This is a series of three letterboxes that our family placed in Brighton Dale Links, part of the Kenosha County Parks System. Paul, our 9 year-old, practiced Little League baseball in this park so he chose Area 3 where the ball fields are. Julia, our 7 year-old, liked the bridge and the lake in Area 2 so she chose that location. That left me with Area 1. We each carved our own stamps and found our own locations. They aren't difficult, but remember to bring insect repellent if you search in the summer months.

Brighton Dale Links are located on Hwy. 75 about 3/4 mile north of the intersection where Hwy. 75 and Hwy. 142 meet. When you enter, the golf course is to your left and the park is to your right.

Area 1 Letterbox

From the handicap parking sign nearest the playground, face the slide. Take the trail into the woods on your right.

At the intersection, go left. At the first fork in the trail, bear to the right.

At the second fork, bear left. Go left once again at the third fork. From the third fork in the trail, take 47 paces to the tree in the middle of the path. In the woods to your right is a large moss-covered log. Where it rests against a small tree is where you'll find your prize.

Area 2 Letterbox

MISSING as of 7/2/06!! New box in the works.

From the parking area, go to the bridge. From here, take a bearing of 40 degrees. Follow that bearing until you reach the edge of the woods. Locate the trail into the woods. Follow the trail until you reach the fork in the trail.

From the spot where the trails fork, count 27 paces back the way you came. Look in the fallen log to your left and you'll find your prize!

Area 3 Letterbox
Placed by: Five (Paul)

From the piece of playground equipment that looks like something Dorothy sang about in the Wizard of Oz, take a bearing of 325 degrees to the (unscramble these words: rectphsi dunmo). Standing at that spot, take a bearing of 310 degrees. Find the path at this bearing. Walk a short distance on the path until you reach a tree almost in the path on your left. Take 15 paces from that tree to a large fallen moss-covered tree on your right. Look inside to find your prize.

We hope you enjoyed this beautiful little park. We lived in the area for a whole year before we ever knew it existed! The first thing the kids said when they saw it was that it would be a great spot for a letterbox, so here are the results.
