"I went out to the hazel wood, because a fire was in my head."

Clue-- Easy
Hike-- A little off trail, but not extreme, gently downhill to the box, uphill coming back, a total of about 10-15 minutes each way.

This is the second Wandering Aengus. The first met his demise at the teeth of a marmot that lives just up the hill from his new spot.

Start at the Molas Trail Parking. From Silverton it is a left turn one-half mile past Big Molas Lake. From Durango it is a right turn just after mile marker 66.

Walk south on the trail for about 5 minutes. You will cross a small ditch that was dug to keep Molas Lake full, and then you will come to the trail register area. From the trail register sight at 164* to a tree 75 steps away. Then go another 70 steps at 170* to a big tree behind a smaller one. Now head straight south along a small limestone ridge to a big burnt rotting log. On the other side of this log is a spindly downed tree that points to something that can be rolled away to find Aengus. As you stamp in and read the poem, keep an eye out for Aengus. He still wanders these hollow lands and hilly lands looking for his enchanted other half.

Note: Many of the limestone chunks around here contain fossils of plants and brachiopods from an ancient sea bed, now pushed up two miles above sea level.
