**************UPDATE: 9/24/05***************************
Sadly, seems people can pick up things marked not trash and throw them out but normal trash gets left there. go figure. checked on my 'boxes today, only one is left :-( Feel free to visit it but without the others is kinda boring, and IMHO not really worth it. I'll replace that one soon with a new stamp, and maybe plant a hitchhiker.I'm a student, so who knows when this will happen...soon hopefully though. New update when that arrives. in the meantime, the logbook is missing from the only existing box, so if anyone reading this has it, i'd very much like it, please contact me for more info. thanks!

************************************************************

Kent's FIRST letterbox series! (at least that i know of.)

Note- the Riveredge park is a highly used public place, so be careful when accessing/hiding boxes. Also, there is a series of construction projects in the area, so be careful when hunting for the boxes.

Please bring your own stamp pad, as these boxes don't have any-and only box #1 has a notepad for leaving your mark.

How to get to Kent: find 80 East/West, get off at Streetsboro, find S.R. 43 South, follow that til you get to Kent. when it dead ends and you have to turn left or right, turn right, and at the first light turn left twice. then, near the bottom of the hill, before the railroad tracks are where the Tannery park and Riveredge parks are located. park at either; although it's a good idea to note that your quest will end at Tannery park.

Together, these stamps form an image of the most well known image of Kent. the last stamp is a cairn image of Captain Samuel Brady's infamous leap across the Cuyahoga river. John Brown Tannery Park is where noted abolitionist John Brown had a (failed) leather tannery, months before other famous events occurred in his life. on the trail, you will past remnants of Kent's first grist mill, and walk along the bank of the Cuyahoga river.

Box #1: go north on the Riveredge park trail. you should pass a picnic table and a green "park closed at dusk" sign. go under the bridge, at the fork turn right and go down the stairs. before a footbridge, on your right is a pile of stones that look as though they were deliberately placed there- this is the location of box #1.

#2:(missing)**** UPDATE 8/23/04: someone stole this box!!! i'm working on replacing it, but it'll take some time. i'll post a new clue, for a better location as soon as i can.****

#3:(missing) i hid this one in a construction area on accident, so i won't tell you how to get to it. After the construction is finished, i'll go back to check on it then post the rest of this clue.

#4:(missing) go back to the Tannery park. find the labyrinth. while completing the labyrinth, look for two piles of white limestone. go to the right one, on the left side, that's where your prize is waiting.

#5:(missing) Still in Tannery Park; look for the small, square gazebo. under the bench is a rock-behind the rock is what you seek.

Thanks to everyone who sent me email and visited my boxes! I'll take your comments into consideration and see what i can change about them.

Happy hunting!
