The city of Ada is located East of Grand Rapids off M-21.

Seidman Park is located at 8155 Conservation in Ada Township. Park activities include cross country skiing, fishing, hiking/walking, and nature trails.

It can be reached off M-21. From M-21 turn North on Pettis Ave. to Honey Creek. Turn right on Honey Creek to Conservation. Turn right (East) on Conservation. Park entrance is about .3 mile on the left.

NOTE: 08/07/08...this series is temporarily not available. It is pulled for maintenance. Will be replaced.

APARDWYAD left the area that is now Grand River Park with his birds of prey and moved up river. They moved past the rapids and traveled the great bend that brought them southward and then southeastward. They found a stream, now known as Honey Creek, and moved up stream into what is now Seidman Park. The area was full of game, and the birds were loosed. Those hunters became so full that they could not fly far and had to wait. This is the tale of how they came to find their places to wait. They await your finding them....FIACRE (Eagle), SEAGHDH (Hawk like), and COREY (Raven from the hollow).

The birds knew they needed a safe place to wait...so as they flew lazily, with great effort, over Seidman Park, they flew northerly over the main trail, over the rocky road, and then over the stream. They noticed several trails and decided to follow the low road at 330 degrees. It was over the marsh (and they noticed 6 steps up). They flew climbing to the right and then over a little used path to the West before the crest of the hill. At the raspberry patch it was a swoop to the South and down over the well used trail into the woods, over a brief clearing, and back into the woods. Then they came to a sign...you would do well to make a good note of that sign!

SEAGHDH decided he had flown far enough and would settle down nearby. You can find him if you take 20 paces from the sign, on the path at 20 degrees. Check out THAT tree! From the north side of THAT tree, take number of paces equal to the number of vowels on the sign, minus 3. From that spot head toward 10 degrees N of W and take paces equal to the number of words on the sign times 2. You'll find SEAGHDH waiting near the downed log.

The two remaining birds bid farewell to their friend and flew back over the main trail heading North. They flew past the "you can't" sign to a little used path 10 degrees E of N. They veered left at the main trail and when over the triangle, they headed toward the yellow arrow. Over the sandy floor they flew (thinking it looked very inviting), but they traveled on. When presented with a choice, they picked the high road; they passed big rocks on the hill to the right. Then another choice...Climb! Climb they did. At the "Y" they chose the trail at 320 degrees, and up they flew again. At the split you can take your pick. Just keep heading upwards as did the birds! Up past the rock pile, over the grassy area, after which they headed over the first trail to the right. FIACRE knew that this would be the place where he would wait. At the 6', naked stump, walk along (or on) the long tree that fell from that stump. FIACRE waits under the split at the far end.

So alone, COREY flew on; not yet ready to settle down. He flew back over the main trail and headed North, at the "Y" bearing right. He noticed how the terrain seemed to go up and down, up and down. Suddenly he stopped to admire the largest, uprooted, moss covered white pine. At 150 degrees he saw a scaly barked multi-trunked tree with five long standing tall and one falling over. "This is it!" he thought. From the most open side of that multi-trunked tree there is a long downed tree. COREY settled in under the "Y".

Now you are alone to go on once more back to the main trail. Trudge on past the largest white pine, past the deformed tree with a bad back, and South at the "Y". Follow the trail back over the stream. Then follow the main trail, and you are back at the beginning!
