THE CLIFFS AT MOUNT MORGAN

Difficulty: More difficult not for young children. Spectacular views of the lakes region.

Hike: 2.1 miles to the summit & plan on 3 hours round trip (about 1600 feet vertical gain)

Directions: Trail head is on the Left side of the road exactly 5.5 miles down route 113 starting in Holderness,NH.

Clues: Take the Mount Morgan Trail, follow the yellow Blaze. At 1.7 miles turn right and follow the sign to the summit. At 1.9 Miles look for a yellow sign with a trail going off to the left. The sign says "The Cliffs". Shortly after you head up the trail you come to the base of the cliffs. Climb the series of 3 ladders up the cliffs. At the top of the 3rd ladder the trail goes through a narrow opening through the rocks. You may need to remove your pack to squeeze through the opening.

As you emerge from the opening you get an incredible view of the lakes region. Take a compass bearing once completely out of the cave. At ~300 degrees, look for a cluster of birches. At the base of the second cluster approximately 30 feet from the cave opening you will find the box under a rock in a crevice.

Note the trail continues up the cliffs in the opposite direction. After you stamp in be sure to climb the last 100 feet to the top of the cliffs.

Bring bug spray early in the season and plenty of water...

Thanks for coming! Enjoy the views!
