The woods, and deep ravines, adjacent to the YMCA, are kind of a strange and fascinating place. There are a couple of county parks next to and backing up to these woods. I am unsure if the area is part of the Brooks Saint Clair park.

Park in the western side of the lot in front of YMCA building. From the northwestern corner of the lot, closest to Butler Rd, a gravel path leads into the wood. The gravel path will soon head down into the creek bottom of a deep ravine and come to an end. Head to your left, picking your way downstream. There is not really a marked path. You will have to cross the creek a couple of times before you reach the junction of another ravine (running roughly E/W) and a creek leading in from your left. At the junction there is a rough, timber and stone bridge leading you left, up stream (East). In just a few yards you will come to a stone bench on your left. This is a good place to sit down and prepare you letterboxing logbook. From the bench, proceed at a bearing of 140°, taking about 20 steps while crossing the creek. You will stop adjacent to a well carved on Beech tree. From there sight 210° and spot a tall, straight Poplar tree just up the side of the hill. The Akoben letterbox is behind the Poplar tree, under the flat rocks and leaves.

You can return the way you came or continue up the ravine. You will come upon a set of steps leading up the south side of the ravine. Head up the stairs and into the open soccer fields. Take the parameter road to your left. You will soon see the YMCA softball fields across the rail fence on you left and the road leading back to the YMCA.
