This box is to be found in Johnson Park which is located on Butterworth off Wilson Ave. Though the park is listed in the City of Walker, it is closer to Grandville. It can be reached from I196. Westbound take exit #70 (Grandville/Walker) and turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Eastbound take exit #70B (Wilson Ave./M11). Go over the river and turn right at the first St (Butterworth). It is best to park in the second parking lot.

Clues:
There they were at Johnson Park having a family picnic. Jon and Michelle were bored as only an 11 and 10 year old could be! Hanging out at C-1 was a drag. They each had a new compass were anxious to try them out. "Let's see what we can find in the woods," said Jon. Michelle was ready for an adventure! So with permission from Mom and instructions to be sure to use bug repellant and watch out for poison ivy, off they went 10 degrees N of W from C-1.

It was into the woods. As they climbed, Michelle said, "Oh Jon, watch out for those arms reaching toward us!" At the end of their climb was a downed log. The kids walked along the log toward the smaller end. "What a cool Oak tree! It is shaped like a "V!" exclaimed Jon. They checked their compasses. "Let's try this path at 20 degrees E of N." As they walked along, they chose not to take the path that entered from the right.

They approached a "Y" in the trail and decided to take the route that slowly ascended 20 degrees W of N. That led them to a dead end. "Now what?" asked Michelle. "That metal chinning bar must show the way," replied Jon.

They both remarked about all the downed trees and many dead ones still standing. "Let's go between this live one and dead one and then over the dead one," said Michelle scampering ahead. Jon was right behind her!

"Look!" said Jon. "The path goes around the root end of that big tree lying straight ahead." So around they went proceeding down and then up again. "There are so many logs to step over here," said Michelle. "It looks like an obstacle course!"

"Do you think we can cross that 'bridge'?" asked Jon. "Of course!" answered Michelle, quickly crossing over. Onward and upward they traveled. As they approached the double trunked tree, Jon said, "It's time to check our compasses again. Why not go 20 degrees S of E from here?"

"Oh no...what a big tree to climb over!" Over they went and walked between two moss covered logs to the first "X". "We'll walk 35 paces, 23 degrees S of E," suggested Jon. Jon was the first to reach the obstacle. Up and over he went with Michelle right behind him. "Jon, see that slender 4' stump? Let's check it out!" Then..."From here we can go South and jump over the "X"! I'll race you to that big rock!" "WoW!" exclaimed Michelle. "You said it Michelle! Look we can make a wish!"

They decided it was time to end their adventure. They headed toward the skinny, partly naked tree and found a main trail. "This is the way back, Jon" "Right, Michelle! Down and out!"
