This canyon is a watershed area - no dogs allowed.
From I-15 take the 215 hwy. belt route east (between 5300 S. & 7200 S.) to the ski areas. Take the 6200 S. exit #6, ski area ramp toward Snowbird/Alta. Follow UT-190, then it turns to Wasatch Blvd. (UT-210) - keep going south. Turn left (east) at Little Cottonwood Canyon. Follow the road up the canyon, and after mile 6, the uphill lane turns into a double lane. Watch on the right side of the road for the sign to White Pine Trailhead. The turn-off comes right up, so slow down to turn off to the parking lot. The White Pine Trailhead is less than a mile below Snowbird Ski area.
Follow the paved trail that goes on down to Little Cottonwood Creek, until it ends and then go on toward the bridge to the left, on the dirt path. Rocks line each side of the path at the bridge. Stop at this point, and look to the left, up the slope. There is a cluster of pine trees, then some prominently large rocks with a very small pine tree in front. Go to the rocks. Then you will see that there are 2 large rocks with 2 smaller rocks between them. The box is hidden between the second and third rock uphill, to the right, facing the creek, behind some much smaller loose rocks.
