NOTE: 1/31/2010 the clues have been revised.

The search for this letterbox will take you to various establishments in and around town.
You will need a pencil, paper and a Kernville map (available at the Chamber of Commerce at corner of Kernville Rd and Sierra Way on the hill).
You could walk to the various addresses in town collecting clues but a car will get you to the box location much quicker than walking.

For those who have enjoyed Ryan’s “Walking Tour of SLO “ or our “Seal Beach Town Tour”, this hunt is similar. Addresses are provided and when you get to the address, write down the name of the establishment from the sign. Then working left to right, number the words in the sign and then number each letter in each word. For example: at 11000 Kernville Rd is the “Century 21” sign. If given the clue: 1 & 4 the correct letter would be a “ T “.

Put the letters together and they spell 4 words.

1. 11317 Kernville Rd. 2&4, 2&3, 1&5

11042 Kernville Rd. 1&5, 1&2

2. 40 Tobias 1&8, 2&7

3. 50 Tobias 2nd line Large Letters 3&1, 1&6, 3&7

16 Tobias 1&2

4. 11317 Kernville Rd. 2&1, 1&1

16 Tobias 2&3

115 Piute 2&1

11317 Kernville Rd. 2&1, 1&6, 1&2

115 Piute 2&4

Got this far? Good for you! Drive north to where the clue directs you. Look for the entrance to the parking lot on your left. Park in the North end of the lot. Look for the nearby telephone pole North of the lot. Near the telephone pole look for his very short brother. The letterbox is wedged between the short brother and some rocks.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.
