You will find not only a letterbox but a spectacular view of the plunging Rio Grande Gorge when you make this one mile roundtrip trek.
To the trailhead: Just north of downtown Taos, you will come to the junction with route 64. Go about seven miles west on 64 to the Rio Grande bridge. At the west end is a rest area and the West Rim Trailhead.
NOTE: Alive and well 11/3/12 badly in need of a new box! Please sign backs of pages.
To the Letterbox: Walk the rim until you are invited to take a seat. A bushy-headed fellow at 240 degrees stands tall, the proud guardian of this box. Search at his back, behind loose rocks. No need to lift the roof.
