Shawnee State Forest

Bring ink pad and pen.
Located a short walk up a hiking trail. Bring a tent and food and make it a longer walk. Don't forget to sign in though. I have placed this box to honor the Odocoileus virginianus' out there.

Directions:
Go to the entrance to the drive for the Shawnee Park Lodge off St. Rte. 125 north of Friendship. When you turn off 125 immediatley turn right(before crossing bridge) into a parking area and park near the Trailhead information booth.

Clues: From the trailhead booth look north for a "Fasten Safety Belt" sign. Make your way in that direction (being careful while crossing the highway) and find where the trail starts into the forest. From the metal pipe across the trail walk 12 paces(1 pace = 2 steps) to a Buckeye Trail marker and a fork in the trail. Take the left trail (north) for 80 paces till you come to two large trees, one on each edge of the trail. On the north side of the eastern tree there is an old dead tree. Follow the old dead tree lying on the ground east up the bank. Look under a rock at the eastern end of this tree. If you look north up the hollow from the letterbox you will see the general area I took my first Odocoileus virginianus as a bloodhound pup. Enjoy.

Please make yourself familiar with the rules and regulations of Shawnee State Forest. Also be aware of the variuous hunting seasons throughout the year. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
