Go on out eighty for a while with the sun in your early morning eyes.
If you go as far as where our boys were introduced to the rifled cannon, then you've gone three miles too far. The middle trail head is what you want on this old bed.
Exit your conveiance, cross the bridge and turn left. Walk for 15,840 feet or there-abouts. If the bugs are biting you, you are going the correct direction. I asked them to do that. Now what do you think of that? ;)
When you get to the "end" look to the left for an old monitoring well. Next to it is a a boundary marker. Find three more markers like it and in the same direction. At the fourth and magical marker, duck your head often to keep the nearby turkey vulture from plucking our your eye (see many by Poe and the legends of Aurthur).
At this fourth pole, orient yourself to face the same way the letters are facing.
You are ten feet away and there is no need to look above your knee.
Congratulations! Be nice and share; this spot is also shared as a www.geocaching.com objective.
Stay Army, Johann Panholtz
ps 13 Mar '05 UPDATE: replaced container with a sturdier ammo can, but otherwise all is ok
