I have a retired friend who has put alot of effort into making this a permanent trail in Hood River. He and a few of his helpers have secured the right of ways and are in the final stages of trying to connect the trail parts from the High School to just above downtown.

Unfortunately there is a section of the trail in the middle that he hasn't been able to secure the right of way on. It's only about a 100 yards but the owner is not letting the trail through. Just maybe the owner may have a change of heart but in the meantime, So . . .

The letterbox is hidden on the eastern leg of this trail. Parking can be had on a side street of Union and 11th. From here, one can walk across a grassy area by the substation to pick up the trail east. You can bike or hike and/or bring dogs. Walk to a spot where the trail meets the Highline tower, the view opens up here. At this point there is a spur trail that goes down below the highlines. Follow that trail down to the last post. Then at about 125 degrees(mag. N) guidewires come down to the earth. Go to where the guidelines meet the earth. The letterbox is in a glass honey jar about 30 feet at 22 degrees (mag. N), under a small sawed off moss covered log.

PS if you missed the spur trail, you'll end up on 2nd street.
