Box is located at Hell Roaring Lake. Beautiful lake reached on nice trail. Worth it!
Directions:
From Stanley, go south on Hwy 75 turn off on right for FR 210. Turn right and cross Salmon river, then swing left. Soon you will see trail sign on right edge of gravel road, and parking soon after that on right.
To the Letterbox
Walk back to trail sign and start trail here. Climb up and follow Hell Roaring creek for awhile. Soon trail flattens out and you eventually come to Wilderness Kiosk. Fill out permit, and keep going. Another trail joins in (from upper parking if have 4 wheel drive). Keep going until you reach the lake, Cross the outlet stream on logs, then go right along shore about half way up the lake to a small clearing and a sign for “Overuse”. With back to sign, go straight ahead for 18 steps through clearing to large pine tree. Box at back base under rocks.
