Distance to Letterbox: 14 Miles RT
Box is located at Twin Lakes. Great lake and hike, which will include Alice Lake.
Directions:
From Stanley, go south on Hwy 75 to the Petit Lake turn. Turn left on FR 208 headed for Petit Lake Campground, and on to the Tin Cup Trailhead. Park.
To the Letterbox:
Start at the Tin Cup Trailhead, and walk along Petit lake. Stay straight at junction for Toxaway lake. At end of Petit Lake reach Wilderness sign and Kiosk. Complete Wilderness Permit, then continue on. You will cross the stream about 6 times (we did without having to de-shoe). Eventually you will reach a pretty, small lake on left, then another one right after it, then soon the much bigger Alice Lake will come into view through the trees. Once enjoy, pass Alice lake and make the climb up toward Twin Lakes. At trail Junction for Twin Lake/Toxaway Lake, stop. Go behind that sign to the 2 small evergreen trees. Box is between the trees under rocks. Continue on to Twin Lakes a short way away. Our plan was to go on the full Toxaway Loop, but weather stepped in. So box go put here.
