Distance to Letterbox: 12 Miles RT
Box is located at Alice Lake. Great lake and hike. Go further to Twin Lakes, or do full Toxaway Loop. One of the best lakes in the Sawtooth range.
Directions:
From Stanley, go south on Hwy 75 to the Petit Lake turn. Turn left on FR 208 headed for Petit Lake Campground, and on to the Tin Cup Trailhead. Park.
To the Letterbox:
Start at the Tin Cup Trailhead, and walk along Petit lake. Stay straight at junction for Toxaway lake. At end of Petit Lake reach Wilderness sign and Kiosk. Complete Wilderness Permit, then continue on. You will cross the stream about 6 times (we did without having to de-shoe). Eventually you will reach a pretty, small lake on left, then another one right after it, then soon the much bigger Alice Lake will come into view through the trees. At about the start of the lake, the trail will pass between a large cut log that is on both sides of the trail. Just before log, go right on social path that climbs up to end of that log, and small pine trees. Box is at base of pines under rocks.
