The Recipefordisaster crew loves to travel. We don't get many chances ... just 1 week a year. So we have a rotation of places we love to visit, and New Jersey's on that list.

On our second visit to The Garden State, we decided to hide a box somewhere a bit out from "home base." We stayed in Seaside Heights, but between having boxed like crazy last visit and boxes going missing, there wasn't much for us to go for on The Shore. We couldn't find a spot where this would last and not get muggled.

So we went back to Harry Wright Park in Manchester Township, where we've adventured before. While out exploring, we found just the right spot for a box. We placed in late September... please research the park before coming as they may charge fees at certain times and be closed at others.

This box is planted in loving thought of our cats and horses ... they are the joy of our lives and we miss them so much when we travel. We can't ever imagine life without little feline heads to rub, equine noses to kiss and treats to be given freely all around. Mr RFD loves the challenge of carving double-sided stamps for our out-of-state plants and this was no exception.

To find our first Garden State plant, enter Harry Wright Park by turning onto Nature Drive, which is off of Lake Rd. Pass the lake, pavilions and bathrooms on the left. When you see the adult fitness trail to your left, park in the lot on your right.

Walk over to the fitness trail equipment and try some it out ... we did and it was fun. Notice the 2 wood kiosks, one of which is lopsided. Facing the kiosks, look to your right and spy a walking trail with a "Boy Scout Troop 350" sign to the right of its entrance. Walk straight down this trail for approximately 1/10th mile, passing a trail to the left and then a viewing area with a park bench on the left.

One you pass the "1/10th mile" sign on your right, the trail opens into a sandy clearing with some individual trees. A blue "pick up after your dogs" sign was here when we planted the box. You will see 2 trails leading off to the left. Take the left turn closest to the trail you just left.

As you follow the trail for an extremely short distance, look off to the right and see an well worn trail resembling a gully leading down towards a small pond. At the bottom, the trail forks. Follow the left fork to a grouping of 4 trees clustered together; these trees are blackened at the bottom. Inside the middle of the cluster, hidden in a divot in the sand and under some wood debris, will be the treasure at the end of this adventure. Enjoy!
