So much to do; so much to see. Here's the place to picnic, to fish, to hike, to see a sturgeon (and a trout), to play some ball, to feed the ducks, to watch a dam, or to launch a boat. The restrooms are improved. There is water and electricity. All this and letterboxing too! The plan is to use compass skills from simple to more complex. The plan is to show what happens to fallen trees and stumps. The plan is for people to enjoy and to have fun.

Driving up Highway 126 past milepost 23, then crossing the dam and driving straight ahead will get you started. Be sure to note the signs to your left as you go to the end of the park and see the Council Ring sign.

FALLEN: Don't worry. Just stand on the Council Ring of Fire and gaze at 170 degrees magnetic, end your quest after twenty paces and you will have "FALLEN". Fallen was last looked into on 6/23/2009 and was in good condition.

HOLLOWED: Start on the Field of Dreams. There is your path at 208 degrees from home plate, across the field and by a large tree. As you stroll it, find a definate dip running across the trail. (It will be the last dip.) Then for you it will be: straight ahead, up, up, and over for thirty-five steps to a "Hollowed" spot. Hollowed was last looked into on 10/28/2008 and was in good condition.

STUMPED: It helps to talk it over, so go to the Council Fire Ring for advice. Ask for guidance from the East wind. Perhaps you will need to gravel along while going downhill to the "big water", and always watching for small signs of danger; but if you find "WATER" on your left, you've "road" too far and need to "RIGHT" yourself.. When you can stand under Deep Water, just look in the direction of 200 degrees and scramble 30 paces to a chance to use your pen and ink because you were not "Stumped". Stumped was looked into on 6/23/2009 and was in good condition.

STUMPS: Remember where you saw the sign, "ORGANIZATIONAL PICNIC AREA" along the road? Trail there because deep within the woods is a second sign inscribed, "ORGANIZATIONAL PICNIC AREA". First move away from that at fifty degrees until you read that water flows underground and you can "rest" nearby. Next, turn to magnetic North and coast down to where all that is wasted is put to rest. A simple turn to fifty-five degrees will point you to a big stump. Nothing there? We really meant the second small stump close behind the big one; and one plus one equals two "Stumps". Stumps was last looked into on 6/23/2009 and was in good conition.

You could stop now, but why not keep going and see the whole area? Remember, there's another box at the fish hatchery.
