The iconic Ardy and Ed's Drive In has been serving root beer since 1948, but this area had another beer association much earlier. The Glatz brewery was built just west of here in 1869.
Find the iconic Ardy and Ed’s restaurant. Park in the cul-da-sac behind the restaurant on Doty Street. To the west pass the fire hydrant and large tree to find a grass trail leading to Glatz Park. Read the Glatz Nature Preserve sign and notice the date that the breweries were dismantled.
Continue into the park. It will feel like you are walking into someone’s backyard. Once you reach the clearing, you will see the remaining stone wall from the brewery on your right. At the start of the wall, walk along it, the number of steps of the last two digits of the year dismantled.
The box is behind the wall under rocks.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
