THIS BOX HAS BEEN REPORTED MISSING. TWICE.
Take highway 211 northwest of Southport, then take Highway 133 south to Oak Island. Turn left on Caswell Beach Road and follow it east along the shore. 133 ends at the Oak Island Lighthouse. But before you go that far, you will see the only point of public beach access in Caswell Beach—-on the right as you approach the lighthouse. Here you will find two boardwalks to the beach. Look under the first one (the one furthest from the lighthouse). The letterbox is placed under the last step on the right side where the step leads down to the sand. At the time of planting, there were sea oats and sand helping to hide the box under the step. This box contains a special hand-carved stamp.
