Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 200 yards
The box is located in Roy Cambell Burroughs Park, which has excellent hiking trails in the back of the park. The story behind the box is below:
The letterboxing community lost one of its founders this week, Der Mad Stamper. I met him once, but searched many times for his incredible boxes. He was a one of a kind guy, and will be truly missed. PS - The desk scene on LBNA is a picture of his desk at home.
Directions:
From FM 2920, go north on Stubner Airline. At T=junction, go right on Hufsmith. Turn left into park and go all the way until the last parking area, loop to far side and park near hiking board/map.
To the Letterbox:
Standing at the board, see the purple nature trail post to the left. Take that trail and go away from the parking area. At the far end of the sand courts on the right, continue on the main trail for about 200 yards. Go right on a sandy trail and count 121 steps to a big tree on the left, with a post next to it ("HP" on post). Go left before the post off the trail for 8 steps to the large oak tree. Box is at back base under sticks.
*** You can return the way you came, or can continue to do "Goodbye DMS" box.
