Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 40 yards
This box was going to be placed in a cemetery northwest of Dobbin, but the road was closed. It is "close" to the location mentioned below, in Stoneham Cemetery. This Cemetery had many old graves of early pioneers and patriots.
Rene Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle was the earliest to mention this area of Texas, when he camped northwest of the site of Dobbin on Feb 14, 1687.
Directions:
From Dobbin, go west on Hwy 105, to Plantersville. Continue on for about 4 to 5 miles. Soon after passing FM 309 on right, look for white sign on right for Stoneham Cemetery, and turn right on dirt road. Enter through gate with historical marker, then just before second gate go left along fence and park about 1/2 way down.
To the Letterbox:
Walk left into cemetery and find Historical marker and graves of the Montgomery's. Continue left to the next tree with huge stump next to it. Turn right and go to "Patriot Marker" on ground for Greenwood. Continue to highest stone on left for Frank Greenwood. To left of that ins multi-trunk crepe myrtle. Box is on back side in middle.
