*** Part of my Beer Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (moderate slope, 2.5 miles RT)
Status: alive

The Alaskan Brewing Company was opened in 1986 by Marcy and Geoff Larson, the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Their beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era, from the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips. So come find this box on the Mount Roberts Trail, then reward yourself with a visit to the Brewery for tastings.

Directions:
Get to Juneau, probably by cruise ship.

Clues:
The Brewery is located at 5429 Shaune Drive in Juneau and is open every day in summer from 11-7. To get to Mount Roberts Trail from the cruise ship terminal, walk north on Franklin St, right on 6th St, then left on Basin Rd to trailhead on right. Go up trail as it bends left, right and right again to a wood pole on left. Go back 60 steps to flat rock next to a stump on right. Go right off trail 10 steps to medium tree behind a boulder with LB at its back base within roots under a rock and leaves.

Hike length: 2-3 miles
