Take US Highway 81 (Chisolm Trail) north from I-40 the the town of Hennessey.
The town of Hennessey is named in honor of Pat Hennessey who on July 4, 1874 escorted 3 wagons over the Chisholm Trail to the Kiowa-Comanche agency. Comanches attacked and killed the three teamsters, tied Hennesey to a wagon wheel and burned him alive. From then until the land opening in 1889 those passing by would leave rocks carved with their initials and the date on his grave to honor his bravery. Several people claimed land around his grave on the day of the land run, and named their town "Hennessey" in his honor.
Watch for the "Historical Marker" sign and follow the directions into the City Park. Stop to read the historical marker about Bull Foot Station then follow the black top circling around to the end of the road. Park next to the bathroom. Walk past the bathroom on the dam as far as the mechanical device until you read the "saddle" (spillway).

From here walk towards the woods at 245 degrees until you are due west of the Flag Pole. Face North, on your left is a willow tree with 6 trunks. Walk 10 paces at 345 degrees until you reach a large tree. This tree forks at eye level. You will find the box in the fork.
