This trail system is the result of unique partnerships both public and private. With assistance, students and staff at McLane Elementary School have worked tirelessly each year to create this work in progress. The area is a part of a wildlife habitat restoration project that has been in the works for several years. Recently the trails were paved to allow easy wheeled access. Although the trails are excellent any time of year, there is one time of year when the area is a particular treat. This box is about that. The McLane School Forest-- 200 Delphi Road SW. (Just off Mud Bay Rd. from 101) Park in the upper lot.

Nuff said--let's get to the clues.

Gwenevere woke up on her birthday. She stretched her squirrel self out to the edges of her nestly nest. "Ho-hum," she thought, in an Eeyore-like way, "so its my birthday. Big Deal. It doesn't look like my birthday. It just looks like every other day."

She perched in a tree and looked around. "I want to wake up and see my birthday all around me," she proclaimed, "I want it to burst with color for everyone to see."

So she did what the Romanies have done for years and what many other squirrels do. Rather than blowing out candles for her birthday wish (which, of course, a squirrel cannot do, in case you were wondering) she scrambled out of her tree and rustled around the ground. (No, this is not what Romanies do.) She scritched and scratched until she unearthed a lump, a wishing lump, to be exact. She made her wish and planted it.

Did her wishing lump transform her wish? Find out.

Start at the number 2 gem.
From home plate hit a homer over the fence at Left Center field.
Follow your hit through the nearest gate.
At "First Planting" sign follow the hand that was once considered evil.
Stroll past seedlings and check their health.
Continue through grove of trees.
At "Y" head to 1 o'clock.
Anything to view from the platform?
Step off platform to trail.
At this "Y" take the path you haven't yet traveled.
Find rock of Quercus Rubia.
Remove two puzzle pieces.
Replace puzzle pieces carefully when rehiding.
