Hemlocks of North Carolina
This clue will help you find one letterbox and hopefully teach you a thing or two about some very important trees that can be found in North Carolina.

To start this tree-based adventure drive to the office of Conserving Carolina located at:
847 Case Street
Hendersonville, NC 28792

Please wear closed toe shoes when going on this hunt. You may wish to bring a pair of gloves with you. Be mindful of snakes.

Look for the conservancy building.

You will start facing the handicap parking sign closest to the Conserving Carolina building.

“Carolina Hemlock”
To find this tree look for a small path made out of little stepping stones to the right of the handicap parking sign. Follow this back 12 BIG steps into a clearing. You may need to push a few overgrown plants out of your way as you go.

You should be next to our deck which should be on your right.

To the right of the deck you should see a stone fountain and to the left a mulch path. Follow the path to the left. Walk until you are standing next to the eastern hemlock.

NOTE: If you see a water pump and/or compost bins you have gone too far.
HINT: Our hemlock is less like a tree and more like a bush.

Once you find the hemlock turn to face the direction you originally came from and squat down. You should see something you might get at a home improvement store along the side of the deck. You will find the Carolina Hemlock resting on a slat. Hide as well as you found and please report it if you cannot find one or both of these boxes.
