My girlfriend and I moved to Belle Isle about a year ago. We immediately fell in love with the Conway chain of lakes, and the Belle Isle area. Belle Isle has become a special place for us as we have settled down and learned more about the community. On 8/5/2017 I placed this box to create a “letterboxing excursion” that would lead her to the spot I’d propose.

Park at Belle Isle City Hall (1600 Nela Ave). There is a small parking lot for “city business only” but they won’t mind if you park there for a little while.

While facing the Police Station, turn right and begin walking down the sidewalk. If you see “Megan” you are going the right way. She was there in 2005 and left her mark.

As the road diverges don’t let it deter you, keep going straight through.

“1924” will signify that you have reached your destination.

Debbie and Jack welcome you at the light pole closest to your treasure.

Below the light, between the shrubs and the railing, you will find what you are looking for.

Take a minute to relax on the bench and enjoy the scenery. This is a perfect spot to take in a sunrise or sunset (sunrises are a little nicer).

Nearby: some great local places to eat are Dixie Belle’s in the morning (closes at 2pm) for a diner breakfast. Gnarly Barley is a favorite local pub of ours with rotating local craft beers on draft, delicious bar food (I recommend the Johnny Mac and Cheese w/Tiger Sauce), and a selection of board games to play while you carry on.
