Start at the playing fields at the bottom of the hill behind Ethel Walker School. From the back of the parking lot, follow the gravel road back toward the woods. After passing the softball field, turn left behind the field and walk through the grass along the edge of the woods. When you reach the corner of the softball field, turn right and follow the trail into the woods.
A short distance into the woods, you’ll reach a clearing. Veer to the left to stay on the trail. Keep walking and you’ll see on the right hand side, about 50 feet off the trail, the dirt and roots of a huge fallen tree; the roots are about 12-15 feet tall.
Keep going on the trail until you reach a gate across the trail with a stone wall on either side. Turn right and follow along the stone wall, keeping the wall to your left. Near the end you will find a flat rock leaning up against the wall. Behind this rock you’ll find your box.
Hike length: 1 mile
