Duckling at Linnet Lake
Waterton Lakes National Park is a national park located in the southwest corner of Alberta and borders Glacier National Park in Montana. Waterton was Canada's fourth national park, formed in 1895 and named after Waterton Lake, in turn after the Victorian naturalist and conservationist Charles Waterton. The park contains 195 sq miles of rugged mountains and wilderness.
Directions: Once you go through the gate into Waterton (coming from Pincher Creek Area) on your right you will pass the boat inspection area and the Park wardens office and then the next turn to the left is the one you want to take toward the boat launch. (If you get the turn for Prince of Whales hotel you've gone too far.)
Linnet Lake is visible from the parking lot.
If you start on the asphalt it is 38 steps up the trail to find this letterbox.
Clues:
Go clockwise (left fork) up the trail 38 steps to the 3rd tree you find on the left side of the trail. Look at the base of the tree on the uphill side buried under some rocks and bark. (As we know bark decays so if you get the chance, throw some more large rocks on top to keep it from washing out in the rain! Thanks!)
