If you haven't had a chance to check out Kayla's Playground at the Franklin Woods, this letterbox hunt is a great reason! This playground was built in 2016 by a group of motivated private citizens, funded by private money. This playground is all-accessible and all-inclusive, and is amazing for kids of all abilities. It will definitely be a favorite destination for the kids in your life, if it isn't already!
After playing a bit at the playground, stroll across the stone pavilion. If you packed a lunch, this would be a great spot to stop, sit and eat. On the west side of the pavilion, you'll see a little gravel path leading into the dark woods. Take it. You'll pass a yellow #3, a park bench, and a yellow #6. When you get to the second bench, the path takes a sharp turn right over a creek bed. This is about 1/4 mile from the start of the trail. Get off the beaten path and follow the creek along the NW bank. About 50 paces from the path (and we are short people, so these are small paces), you'll run right into twin trees. They're tall and thin and about a foot apart. In between the trees, under a layer of bark and branches, you'll find what you're looking for.
**This letterbox was missing, but I went back and replaced it, so it should be good to go!**
