This letterbox is part of the GO and Be Active! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 1, 2016 – August 14, 2016. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Be Active! program requires you to search for up to 30 “activities” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression (with a colored pencil or crayon) from the engraved plate onto your GO and Be Active! rubbing sheet, available at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at Gifford Pinchot State Park and should be accessed from Boat Mooring Area #1 off Rosstown Road. GO York! level of difficulty = Moderate.

• Starting in the parking lot, begin by finding the sign for the Beaver Creek Trail and cross over the wooden bridge.
• Follow the trail, being careful of the rocks and wet areas.
• You will notice the ground under your feet changes from dirt to small gravel to larger rocks.
• Make sure the lake is on your right and continue on the rocky, wet path.
• Cross a small, wooden footbridge.
• Stay on the path to the right. You will notice blue trail markers on the trees along the path you are following and a big root ball from a downed tree on your right.
• Check out the large cube looking boulder on your left as you pass it.
• Watch your footing. Lots of rocks and mud are along your route of travel.
• Continue to the right and walk across the boardwalk. This will lead you over the marshy area. Keep a look out for interesting critters!
• After the last set of planks, look for the tree with peeling bark on the right. The post will be near this tree.
• To return to your vehicle, turn around and go back the way you came.
