This letterbox is part of the GO and Be Active! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 1, 2016 – August 14, 2016. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Be Active! program requires you to search for up to 30 “activities” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression (with a colored pencil or crayon) from the engraved plate onto your GO and Be Active! rubbing sheet, available at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at Heritage Rail Trail County Park - New Freedom Station and should be accessed from the New Freedom Museum parking lot off Front and Franklin Streets. GO York! level of difficulty = Hard.

• Starting from the parking lot, walk past the bulletin board and make a right onto the rail trail. Continue walking past the New Freedom Railroad Station.
• Continue walking until you come to Franklin Street. Look both ways and carefully cross the street. Continue following the trail.
• Next you will come to Main Street. Look both ways and carefully cross the street. Continue following the trail.
• As you walk you will come to a place where the rail trail crosses over the railroad tracks. Cross and continue following the trail.
• As you are following the trail you will come to High Street. Look both ways and carefully cross the road. Keep walking along the trail.
• Next you will come to McCullough Avenue. Look both ways and carefully cross the road. Continue following the trail as it enters the woods.
• As you walk you will come to a metal bridge that goes over the rail trail. Walk under the bridge and continue to follow the trail.
• Keep walking until you come to Orwig Road. Look both ways and carefully cross the road.
• Walk about 100 yards and you will come to a large wood sign on your right. The wooden sign will have the entire map of the Heritage Rail Trail on it. You have finally reached the Mason Dixon Line. On the wooden sign is where you will find the rubbing post.
• To return to your vehicle, turn around and go back the way you came.
