This letterbox is part of the GO and Be Active! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 1, 2016 – August 14, 2016. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Be Active! program requires you to search for up to 30 “activities” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression (with a colored pencil or crayon) from the engraved plate onto your GO and Be Active! rubbing sheet, available at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at William H. Kain County Park-Lake Williams and should be accessed from the parking lot off South George Street. GO York! level of difficulty = Moderate.

• Starting from the parking lot, walk over to the beginning of trail 2. Walk on trail 2 as it crosses over the mouth of Lake Williams.
• Continue following the grass trail until you come to an intersection in the trail. Turn left and continue following trail 2.
• As you are walking out trail 2, the trail will start to bend to the left and go up a rocky slope. Remain on trail 2.
• As you are walking you will come to a brown bench on your left. Take a moment to take a break and enjoy the view of Lake Williams.
• Once rested, continue following trail 2 as it follows the edge of the lake.
• You will come to a point in the trail where the trail runs right along the water’s edge. Look to your right, this is where you will find the rubbing post.
• To return to your vehicle, go back the way that you came.

Hike length: 1-2 miles
