This letterbox is part of the GO and Be Active! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 1, 2016 – August 14, 2016. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Be Active! program requires you to search for up to 30 “activities” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression (with a colored pencil or crayon) from the engraved plate onto your GO and Be Active! rubbing sheet, available at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at Indian Steps Museum and should be accessed from the parking lot after the museum on the left. GO York! level of difficulty = Hard.

• From the parking lot, walk over to the gravel path and toward the museum. Pass the museum and walk toward the bridge.
• After crossing the bridge, make a left and go up a slight hill.
• Carefully cross the street and climb up the wooden steps near the Ulmer-Roots-Haines Trail Sign.
• Continue straight past the brown waterfalls sign.
• The trail will start to go uphill. Take a minute to look at the beautiful waterfalls!
• Continue climbing the hill. You will come to a few tree trunks that have fallen across the trail. Carefully climb over or under these tree trunks.
• As you continue climbing the hill, you will walk over many skinny tree trunks that have fallen across the trail.
• At the top of the hill, the trail turns to the left and the stream remains on the right.
• Continue following the trail making sure to stay near the stream.
• Eventually the trail opens up to a large corn field. The post can be found on the right near this opening.
• To return to your vehicle, turn around and go back the way you came.

Hike length: 1-2 miles
