Distance to Letterbox: about 1/2 mile RT.
Once again I had to leave one of my trusty friends behind in this great park for your safety. Reports of the evil clown had surfaced, so to make sure he did not escape the park and cause more trouble for letterboxers, I called in the cops. This is one cute and loveable protection beast. He only dislikes clowns, and ghosts with boxer shorts on. So say hello when you go to the park, and he will keep your safe! (sounds like he will steal your safe -- Ghost of IRA Boxer)
Directions:
From I-35, go west on Aquarena Springs Dr (Hwy 82), then right at sign into the springs area. Park on left near the Texas River Center building (now $3 fee if park during the week).
To the Letterbox:
From Trail sign at corner of parking area, walk across the street to gravel roadway leading to maintenance building. To left of it you will find trail kiosk. Take the trail up until you hit junction. Go right (should see fire hydrant) and continue straight until sharp turn to left and trail kiosk. Just after Kiosk, do not take trail on right (Blind Salamander), but keep going on main trail. Eventually you will hit the Blue Stem trail on left. Take it and go to junction with Skink Link trail. Take that trail and count 21 steps. Go right off trail for 12 steps to multi-trunk tree. Box in middle under a rock.
