The RFD crew puts quite a bit of mileage on their library card. Our favorite library is the North Scituate Public Library, located at 606 West Greenvile Rd in North Scituate, near the site of the annual Scituate Art Festival. We encourage you to check www.scituatelibrary.org for hours of operation prior to your visit ... it will be well worth the trip!! Parking is available along the sidewalk on Silk Lane, or across West Greenville Road at the town common. Please do not park in the small lot to the rear of the building (please and thank you!) as that lot is reserved for library staff and has minimal spaces.

On our latest trip to the library, our cats Whirley and Gobo asked to come along. The cats love to read and look up to Dewey the Library Cat. When we entered the library's main door, the cats hopped down from our shoulders and waved to the staff at the circulation desk. They turned a sharp left and scattered to their favorite spots.

Gobo scooted up the stairs to the fiction area, his preferred destination. He checked the call numbers on the outside of the shelves, looking for Fiction BE - BU. Once he found the right shelf, he scampered down the aisle and hopped up to his perch at FIC Bra. He picked a book and settled in for some adventure time.

Whirley turned right before the stairs and headed through the doorway to the nonfiction/reference area. She prefers more knowledgeable pursuits. She waved hello to the reference librarian, then searched the call numbers on the rolling shelves until she found 635 J - 641.5974 TAS. The librarian spun the opening levers for her (cats are a little too light to do this themselves), then Whirley bounded down the aisle to the subject of her search, 636.8 Cat. She hopped up on the shelf, grabbed the book she sought and settled in for some learning. She brought a log book to scribble notes in and maybe receive stamps from visitors. She didn't bring an ink pad (cat paws and ink don't mix well!), so please bring ink pads or markers with you.
