Spring is in the air, time to play “pick up sticks” and get the yard ready for the beginning of lawn mowing season in WI- OR you could enjoy the fresh air and take a hike, picking up a “sticks” letterbox instead!

To find this Letterbox make your way over to:

A-ENO/ENO AERA CINCIP – YWKP REVIR TOOR / KRAP LLANTIHW

Park your car in the lot, if the lot is full or locked you can park on the south side of the street further to the east of the entrance. From the parking lot, walk east and stay north of the play structure as you walk toward the stone bridge crossing over the river. Once there you don’t want to cross over the bridge, but cross the road, so you are in the area on the NW side of the bridge. From there, look north – between the river tree line and two trees to your left, you should see the beginning of a trail marked by a brown post.

Take the “Forked Aster” heading north. Shortly along the way you will pass a distinct blue-capped post on the right. As you continue there will be small side trails along the way, but keep to the main path. Further down is an obvious swerve in the trail with a large low cut stump in the middle. Now be patient and stay the course, there will be many escape routes on the left but keep going down the long straight away. After a curve right, then to the left, you will pass a larger cut tree sticking out onto the path on the right with a jagged stump. Continuing on, another curve to the right, then one more, now be on the look out for a bald 15 ft. stump on the right, followed 25 steps later by a 5 ft. stump. Then just after a small left curve, you should see off the trail to the left, twin sewers. Pick up the pace and pass a skinny tree bent over the trail on the right, followed by a broken one holding another up on the left. After another skinny tree bent over the trail from the left, you will see the trail curves again to the left- at the bend in the curve, look left to see a larger tree with an approximate 30-degree bend. Take 7 steps off the trail toward this tree- behind it you will see a fallen tree, inside the south end of this fallen tree. Under STICKS, bark, and a large rock, you will find the “sticks” you are looking for!

Please re-seal & re-hide box well, as this is a well traveled trail and could be wet at times.

Hope you enjoyed the hike and were able to “pick up some sticks” – this box is for two of my Letterboxing pals, who are good with “sticks” and who I’d rather be out hiking with than picking up sticks in the yard any day!

Box updates always appreciated- Thanks!!
