This letter box is located near Pony Pasture and the Wetlands trails of the James River Park System, where you'll encounter a variety of ecosystems in just a short walk!
These clues direct you to enter the park via a secret trail within the Willow Oaks neighborhood. Shhhh--don't tell too many people!
1. Park your car in the semicircle at the dead end of Northview Place.
2. Find the small path between 3464 and 3455 Northview Place.
3. The path goes down and up sharply as it follows the contours of the land.
4. Follow this narrow path steeply downhill.
5. This narrow path will dead end at a low branching tree into another path. Turn left at the larger path.
6. This path will turn into a wooden boardwalk.
7. Walk on wooden boardwalk through the swampy area.
8. After stepping off the boardwalk take the right fork of the path.
9. Walk through the small pine forest.
10. Turn left when this path dead ends onto a larger path.
11. From the main path turn left just before reaching bridge.
12. Quickly take the first right onto a narrow path going down toward the stream.
13. Walk down narrow path toward stream. You can see the bridge on your right.
14. Turn around 180 degrees and you will see some large roots on the side of the hill to the right of the path you just walked.
15. Feel around about 1 foot above the roots for a hole. You’ll find the letterbox in there.
You may also find some frogs in and near this creek. Happy hopping!
