If you are a Texan, you will remember that Hurricane Ike hit the Texas Coast in 2008, and destroyed everything in it's path. The State Parks were heavily damaged, but most have been restored and are in great condition. While riding our bikes a few weeks ago at Village Creek SP, we came across a tree bent over the trail. I am pretty sure this was caused by the hurricane, and was amazed that it was strong enough to stand the forces of nature. This box is a tribute to this tree's determination and strength. Hope you enjoy the adventure!

Directions:
Village Creek Sp is located here:

From Beaumont, take U.S. Highway 69/96 North and take the Mitchell Road exit onto Mitchell Road (just before the U.S. Highway 69/96 split). Go approximately 0.4 miles on the access road and turn east (right) onto Mitchell Road. Then turn immediately north (left) onto FM 3513 (Village Creek Parkway). Go approximately two miles and turn east (right) on Alma Drive. Cross the railroad tracks (veer to the left) and continue 0.5 miles to the park entrance.

The Park HQ is located at:
Latitude (degrees, minutes, seconds) N: 30° 15' 03.34"
Longitude (degrees, minutes, seconds) W: 94° 10' 40.15"

To the Box:
Pay the entrance fee, pick up a trail map, and head to the Bicycle/Fitness trail. Park in the lot near the trail head. Continue down the trail until you come to the tree that is bent over the trail. Walk under the tree, and about 22 steps until you come to a stump on your left with a pine tree a few feet behind it. From the trail, walk off the path about 15 steps to two small trees very close together. The box is in the middle between the two trees.
Please re-hide well. Thanks for stopping by!
