I, Quan Yin, am posting this letterbox on behalf of my niece, Dieh. Here are her instructions:

My name is Dieh and I am 9 years old. This is the 2nd letterbox I have made. I wrote my Chinese name — which is my Trail Name — in the Letterbox booklet, and it’s pronounced Dee-ah in English.

My previous letterbox in this location was named Happy Face, but today, 2/20/16, we discovered it was gone! Maybe it blew away, or washed down the mountain, or someone took it. But we're not going to be sad about losing Happy Face, because I made a brand new one named Lava Letterbox and put it in the same place today.

Instructions:

1. From the intersection of 6th Avenue & 19th Street in Golden, go up the hill on 19th Street.

2. Just as you cross Smith Road on the right, 19th Street curves to the left, gets married, and changes its name to Lookout Mountain Road.

3. Go a little ways and imagine that you are a giant chess player. You will see your 2 Rooks looking like twin giant stone towers. Set your odometer to 000 as you drive through the towers.

4. At 0.4 mile, you’ll see 2 signs with 2 hikers on each sign, a good sign that you’re on your way.

5. After you’ve gone exactly 1.0 mile from the Rook rock towers, you’ll see a turnout on the right where you can pull over and park your car. You'll see a brown trash can with a vertical, closed chute on the top.

Wow! What a panoramic view of the Golden valley, all the way to Denver!

6. Walk a little ways further and you’ll see a low rock wall. Climb over the guard rail, and on the other side of it you’ll see that someone has written: Live Laugh Love. This is good advice for a happy life!

7. Go around the near end of the wall, and immediately underneath it on the downhill side, you will find the Lava Letterbox!

8. After you stamp my booklet with your stamp, and your booklet with my stamp, please leave my stamp and booklet in my Letterbox. I’ll be checking it to see who has found it!
