Forest Park is the only designated Town Forest in Woburn. this 39 acre tract is located just east of Main St and south of route 128. Forest Park has a network of trails that are good for hiking, jogging, cross country skiing and nature study. Two athletic fields are located on the eastern end of the park. The 'Town Forest' is under the Park Department's control. It was the first public park in the city. the land was purchased from Charles A. Torrey in October 1890 at the recommendation of the park commission. The park was called the Public Park or city Park until 1901, when renamed Forest Park.
We planted this flag in honor of the Greek Festival held in Woburn every June. This is where we first discussed letter boxing together.
Across form 33 Forest Park is the entrance to the upper parking lot, you can also park in the lower lot at Weafer Park across from #39. Go past the upper field and through the red gate into the pine forest. Bear right onto the main trail. You'll pass a small path on the right, continue straight. about 15-18 steps further you'll see a large pine tree on the left with a hollow spot at the bottom. Go left onto trail. You'll see downed logs on left and a 3/4 ft stump on right. Soon you'll see large twin pine trees. Go past twin trees. At next large pine on the left, stop. Look left past tree and see decaying stump. Box with stamp is just behind stump. If you miss the turn you will start going downhill as the path turns right.
Please use blue ink and rehide better than you found the box. return the way you came to your car.

Hike length: 1 mile
