Park by the barns and get on the paved path that leads to the lake but don't go that far. Take the first trail to the right that goes across the field. Walk a short distance and you will see a steep path to the left (don't go up it). 20 steps from the steep path is a narrow path to the right that leads to a barn. Go all the way to the barn and stand at the northern most corner. Turn around and take 15 steps back down the trail. Look to the right and you will see a very large multi-trunked tree that has fallen trunks. Your not so spooky spook is in the main trunk. *the photo is of the subject tree.

Go back to the main trail and continue until you see the first trail to the right. Turn around and go back 20 steps and see a small trail on your right. Go up the trail keeping left 21 steps to a small tree with many trunks. The Glad Gourd is hiding at the bottom in the midst of the trunks.

Go back to the trail and continue for a ways until you reach a clearing where you have to decide which way to go. Take a left and head up the hill to the first trail on the right. Take this trail until you see an arch over the path. Go under the arch and turn to look at it. There is a hole on the bottom left of the arch. Your sweet treat is in the hole. It is a sad little caramel apple and you may not be able to tell what it is. You will have to take my word for it that it's an apple.

Continue along the path to the third trail on the left. It is steep and leads to a bench and a view of Pierce College. Sit a spell and ponder your choices. Do you follow the trail that heads left or the diagonal one going towards the college? If you want to find the last box you will go to the left. When you come to the clearing that resembles an orchard on the right count 33 eleven year old steps and look to your right. Leaf your mark in the letterbox in the bottom of the tree.

Keep going and find your way to the old Western State Hospital remnant. From there you can go down to the parking lot by way of the paved trail or one of several steep trails down the hill.

There is one logbook which is in the last box.

I want you to find my letterboxes. If you have trouble please ask and I will give hints.

Hike length: 1-2 miles
