Difficulty: Easy
Distance to Letterbox: 50 yards

The history behind the letterbox is below. It is located in Hopple Cemetery, the resting place of Pendleton Rector. Nice cemetery!

Here is the history from the Historical Marker:
He fought for Texas Independence at Velasco, the Siege of Bexar and San Jacinto. Erected by the State of Texas 1962

To the Letterbox:
From Hwy 80 in Prairie Lea, turn west on River St and go to end. Turn right on St Joseph St and go past river crossing and on to Red Bird Ln on right. Just past it is gravel entry road for Hopple Cemetery. Turn right and go to granite sign and flag pole and park.

To the Letterbox:
Walk along the fence on the right until first row of graves on the left. Go to them, and find Rector's in the corner. Continue down row of stones to "Thomas Merritt's" headstone. Look left at large cedar tree. Box is 6 foot up in center right of tree, under loose bark.
