Box 9
'Bambi'
Great Seal State Park, Chillicothe
Very strenuous terrain(lots of big hills).

As always, you'll need bug spray, but not a compass for this one. *Not because I forgot to bring mine when I posted it...* :)

~INSTRUCTIONS~

Park in the lot off of Marietta Road. To the right of the lot(facing towards the end with the 'Great Seal' sign) there's a pavilion. To the right of the pavilion(when facing it) is a color-coded trail sign. *The trails are extremely confusing. Be warned* Follow where all the arrows point, back towards the woods. You'll pass a post with 'Hole 10'(and other stuff) on it. At the end of the grass, where it meets the woods, is a dirt trail. Take it down into the woods, past a frisbee golf cage. Cross the creek and pass the 'Hole 9' post, followed by cage 8 and a picnic table(not random at all...) on your right. When the trails split, keep following the bank of the river. There'll be a blue blaze on a tree to the right a bit further on, then a washed-out area and a four-way intersection, with a bridge on the left. Keep going straight. There's a triple sycamore on the right(sycamores are a sign of close water, by the by), and another blue blaze to your right. Go up a long, gradual incline, with a third blaze on th right. At the 'Hole 6' post, where three trails meet, go left(following the 'park this way' arrow). Pass cage 5 and cross a small footbridge; go up a steep hill. At the top, look to your right. There's a huge sycamore with a really weird growth on it(it's kind of impossible to miss). Head towards it(there's a really narrow trail), and you'll find cage 4. Continue past the cage, to a big downed tree with its roots on one side of the trail and the rest on the other side(the middle was cleared off the trail, so both ends are cleanly cut). Look up along the roots(on the right side of the trail) and you'll see another downed tree to the left of a Shagbark Hickory. The dead tree is split up near the top. The 'Bambi' box is directly to the left of the main trunk where it's broken, under some slabs of bark. Please re-hide it very carefully! There's another trail, like, ten feet uphill, and if it's not hidden well it'll be obvious from there. Also, look for Indian Pipes, a fascinating kind of plant that doesn't contain chlorophyll, and is parasitic(your fun fact of the day). There were a lot of them around. If anything about the box's location changes or you can't find it, please contact me at - tiredmom5kidz@yahoo.com.
