This box series was hidden by students at The Well School in Peterborough. The boxes are hidden at the Edward MacDowell Lake along an unmarked trail loop that is approx. 1 mile with some hills and heights. It is on the backside of the recreation area. Bring a pen and ink pad.

To get there: From Nashua Rt. 101 to Peterborough, follow signs to dam about 4 miles west, turn left on Union St. and travel about 1 mile, turn left on Windy Row, left on Spring Rd., park in the Army Corps parking lot on the left.

#1 Breakfast

Begin down the path past the road closed sign. At the end of the pavement, walk 50 paces and turn left to face the wall of rocks. Walk to the front of the wall of rocks and look to the right. There will be an elbow tree pouring syrup on the pancake rock below. Nestled underneath the pancake and the elbow, under some leaves is the first box.

#2 Snack

Head back to the path and walk until there is a fork in the path. Take the trail to the right, staying on the main path. As you pass the large hill of sand on your left, you will see another fork in the trail. Take the path to the left that travels up the hill. Walk along the edge of the sand hill. Near the top of the hill, on the right, find the second 3-sister birch beer tree. From that tree step forward 4 steps to a small hemlock. The second box is at the base of the hemlock.

#3 Lunch

Continue along the sand hill ridge, over the roots and continue on the trail until you come to the soup bowl on your left. Look along the rim of the bowl underneath the pine tree to find the third box. Don’t be afraid to dig a little for this box.

#4 Dinner

Follow the trail until you come to a rotten birch tree. At this point, the trail becomes difficult to find, turn left following the trail down a small hill. As you walk watch for a large pine root that crosses the path. At this root, walk 26 paces and turn to the left. A 6-sister tree that looks like a fork will be there. Walk to the tree and look inside. The fourth box is nestled in the center.

#5 Dessert

Continue to walk to the end of the trail. At the end, turn right heading back to the parking lot. Walk past the gate to the Army Corps sign near the entrance. Look to the right and walk towards the ice cream hill with chocolate sauce on it. Search within the roots for the final box.

We hope you enjoyed this series of letterboxes!
