This letterbox is part of the GO and Find Your Hero! program in York County, PA. It will be available from May 30, 2015- August 16, 2015. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Find Your Hero! program requires you to search for up to 30 “autographs” of community heroes. These “autographs” are wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate onto your GO and Find Your Hero! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Rocky Ridge County Park and may be accessed from the back parking area. GO York! level of difficulty = Hard
- Walk toward the yellow post and gravel trail.
- Make a right and take the gravel trail out under the power line. The parking lot will be on your right and the woods on your left.
- Follow the gravel trail down the hill and then up the other side.
- At the first trail intersection continue walking straight toward the observation deck. Stop and enjoy the view.
- After enjoying the view, continue to walk on gravel trail #1 into the woods.
- At the next Y in the trail make a right on to trail #2.
- After walking out trail #2 a few hundred yards you will come to a trail intersection. There you will find the autograph.
- To return to your vehicle, turn back around and follow trail #2.
- When you get back to trail #1 make a right and continue to walk straight until trail #8 branches from the left. Follow trail #8.
- At the next intersection with two benches, make a left on trail #1 and follow back to the parking area.
