This letterbox is part of the GO and Find Your Hero! program in York County, PA. It will be available from May 30, 2015- August 16, 2015. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Find Your Hero! program requires you to search for up to 30 “autographs” of community heroes. These “autographs” are wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate onto your GO and Find Your Hero! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at the Hopewell Area Recreation Complex. GO York! level of difficulty = Moderate
- From the parking lot cross the road (look both ways before crossing) and walk to the wooden fence.
- With the baseball field on your right, enter the opening in the fence that has a sign with a green arrow and a green hiking symbol on it.
- Continue on the path until you see another sign with a green arrow and a green hiking symbol on it. Merge to the left after the sign.
- Take a sharp right at the next intersection, the woods should now be on your left.
- With the woods on your left, continue walking until you see a silver electrical box. Make a left after the silver electrical box.
- A tall silver metal fence should now be on your right and the woods on your left. Continue following the path straight until you have to make a left.
- The autograph you seek is nearby in an opening in the woods on the left.
- To return to your vehicle, turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking area.
