This letterbox is part of the GO and Find Your Hero! program in York County, PA. It will be available from May 30, 2015- August 16, 2015. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Find Your Hero! program requires you to search for up to 30 “autographs” of community heroes. These “autographs” are wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate onto your GO and Find Your Hero! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Springettsbury Township Park and may be accessed from the Amphitheater parking area. GO York! level of difficulty = Easy
- Locate and walk to the “Welcome to Springettsbury Township Amphitheater” sign.
- Facing the outdoor amphitheater, begin walking on the sidewalk to your right. When you reach the path “blocked” by the posts, turn left and then left again, following the path downhill and past the amphitheater on your left.
- When you come to the large “tiled” area, stay to the left and continue on the path between the football and baseball fields.
- At the fork in the path, go right, so that the field is to your right and trees are to your left.
- Start counting light poles. When you reach the third, turn to your left, look across a small grassy area, and locate two evergreen trees close together along with the remainder of a third tree. The autograph you seek should be near these trees.
- Return to the main path, turn left and continue until it comes to a sidewalk.
- Turn right, walking along the sidewalk, until you come to the right turn into a parking area.
- Turn right, following this walkway along the side of the parking area, until you come to a building.
- Turn left in front of the building and follow the path, keeping the basketball courts to your right. Feel free to stop here and explore the playground.
- Continue past the playground, staying to the right as the path forks.
- Turn right again to return the parking area where you began.
