Alive & well as of March 2007.

Gifts from Connecticut Series #3 (GFCS#3)-A CT Sea Gull Letterbox
Created by the Leader of the Pack and planted by A-Bear.

A rocky short hike to find the sea gull, but the trip was well worth the $8 to hang out with the buffalo on Antellope Island. I wanted to place more on this island, but the SNOW and cold prohibited that as several places I tried the rocks were frozen solid to the ground and WOULD NOT budge. However, the sea gull was accesible in snow, at least the day I hid it. Travelling on I15 I took exit 335 west until reaching the island.

As you drive onto the island, turn right at the "Y" toward the Visitor's Center. Park in the parking lot on the right with a picnic shelter and restrooms before reaching the Visitor's Center.

Enjoy reading the several different ecological signs and keep your eyes out for the California GULL sign. From this sign off in the distance at three hundred degrees you will barely be able to see a bench among the rocks and that bench is where you need to go. If you can't see it, the bench sits below the 2nd highest rock/point (according to me) on the south side of this small peninsula. Find your way there to that bench as there are several ways to get there. If you don't see the bench from the Gull sign, work your way to the south side of the 2 highest points and eventually you will find it. Standing in front of the bench head 5 paces/10 steps at 100 degrees. From that point, head 12 paces/24 steps at ten degrees where you will be on a small trail leading up into the rocks. No need to continue up the rocks, because at the base of the rocks on the right side about 5 feet to the right of this trail under lots of removable rocks, flaps the Sea Gull.

Let us know how your search goes. Thanks again to Connecticut for all their great gifts! =-)
