This letterbox is part of the GO and Find Your Hero! program in York County, PA. It will be available from May 30, 2015- August 16, 2015. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Find Your Hero! program requires you to search for up to 30 “autographs” of community heroes. These “autographs” are wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate onto your GO and Find Your Hero! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Samuel S. Lewis State Park and may be accessed from the lower parking area (near the rock outcropping). GO York! level of difficulty = Moderate
- From the parking lot facing the large rock outcropping, walk past the brown wood trail maker that says Hill Top Trail.
- Continue to follow the Hill Top Trail. The trail will be stone until it turns to a grass path by the pine trees.
- Follow the Hill Top Trail until it makes a right. Hill Top Trail then enters into the woods at the end of the meadow.
- Where the trail bends and starts back up the hill you will find the autograph on your left.
- To return to your vehicle, continue walking straight on Hill Top Trail up the hill.
- At the first intersection continue going straight up the hill.
- At the next intersection by the playground continue walking straight on the gravel trail.
- When you come out behind the baseball field, turn right to return to your vehicle.
